For a DPD parcel sent to a participating UK Post Office, wait for DPD to confirm it is ready. Take the pickup pass and check whether it calls for photo ID. Post Office’s DPD collection guidance gives a separate ID route if you cannot find the pass.
Check the notification before leaving
Find the named branch in the collection message and compare it with the order details. A nearby branch may have a similar name or different opening hours. Check the address and hours before setting out. The Post Office collection page explains which services are available at participating branches.
What to bring to the counter
| Situation | What to check |
|---|---|
| You have the pass | Have the pickup code ready and bring the requested photo ID if the message asks for it. |
| You cannot find the pass | Post Office says to bring photo ID plus a utility bill or bank card as additional verification. |
| Someone else plans to collect | Check the branch rules before asking them to travel. Post Office distinguishes passes that need no extra ID from situations where the collector must show photo ID and share the recipient’s surname. |
These are the published DPD instructions for Post Office counters. For a locker or another retailer’s pickup point, read the instructions for the named location.
How long does the branch hold it?
Post Office states that you have seven days from delivery to the branch before DPD returns the parcel to the sender. Check the arrival event and any collection deadline in your message. If the deadline is close, check the branch’s hours and resolve pass or ID issues before travelling.
When the customer says the parcel is missing
For sellers, first establish whether tracking describes arrival at the branch or collection by the recipient. Ask for the latest event and confirm the collection address. If the parcel is already returning, investigate that status before promising the buyer it can still be collected.
See the DPD hub, the tracking help collection or our Royal Mail redelivery guide for a separate carrier’s process.
