What USPS has confirmed
The USPS 2026 holiday calendar lists Veterans Day on Wednesday 11 November. The separate announcement confirms the closure of all Post Office locations and the following day’s return of regular services. This report concerns USPS in the United States; it does not establish the schedules of other couriers.
| Date | Confirmed USPS position |
|---|---|
| Wednesday 11 November 2026 | Post Office locations closed for Veterans Day. |
| Thursday 12 November 2026 | Regular mail delivery and retail services resume. |
Read the official notice when arranging a visit. The announcement does not supply a delivery prediction for each individual package, so this closure should not be turned into a blanket additional transit time for all orders.
What can still be done without a staffed counter?
USPS says its website remains available for services including Click-N-Ship labels, Hold Mail and address changes. Selected lobbies have self-service kiosks; many are available around the clock. Availability varies. The notice also describes additional options at some locations, including drop-off stations, merchant QR-code label printing and Smart Lockers. USPS self-service information.
Our recommendation is to check the facility and the task you need to complete before travelling. A location having one self-service feature does not establish that it has all of them. Nor does printing a label establish when a parcel will be accepted or move onward.
A dispatch checklist for US online sellers
- Review orders whose planned handover falls on 11 November.
- Separate packing and label creation from the physical handover in your order system.
- Check the actual handover option and its next available date before sending a dispatch promise.
- Tell affected buyers the confirmed plan in plain language; avoid adding an unverified delivery date.
- Retain the handover evidence and tracking reference with the order.
These are editorial planning steps. For example, if a shop normally uses a staffed counter, it should identify the next available counter visit rather than assuming an online label completes that task. If it normally requests a pickup, it should check the offered collection date rather than copy its usual weekday routine.
