At a glance

  • Check both the product type and destination before booking.
  • A compensation exclusion does not provide cover for loss or damage.
  • Named prohibited liquids cannot be sent even in a small bottle.

For UK Evri parcels, some liquids can be carried without compensation, but several named liquid products are prohibited. A small bottle is not automatically acceptable. Evri prohibits all liquids on its international services. Check the exact contents and destination against the current Evri restrictions before buying postage.

What does Evri’s liquid list say?

Contents or routePublished position
UK alcohol and liquids under 1,000 ml that are otherwise permittedExcluded from compensation
UK perfumes, aftershaves, paints, oils, inks, enamels, varnishes including nail varnish, and liquid nitrogenProhibited
UK liquids over 1,000 mlProhibited
International liquidsProhibited

This is a summary of the liquid section, not the complete contents list. Glass and other restrictions can also matter. The page uses “under” and “over” 1,000 ml without resolving the exact boundary in that section. Obtain confirmation for an exactly 1,000 ml item or an unclear mixed shipment. Evri’s full prohibited and compensation-excluded list.

Acceptance and compensation are separate checks

Evri’s terms define non-compensation items as goods accepted for carriage at the sender’s risk. Prohibited items are goods it does not accept. Its terms also allow prohibited parcels to be disposed of, destroyed or passed to relevant authorities. Read the conditions for your actual booking. Evri terms and conditions.

Our recommendation is to make two decisions before paying. First establish whether the parcel may enter the network. Then decide whether the available protection suits the value you are sending. A booking screen allowing you to enter a description should not replace those checks.

Work through the product before choosing packaging

  1. Write down the exact product name, bottle volume and container material.
  2. Confirm whether the destination is in the UK or overseas.
  3. Look for the product itself in the carrier’s current list, including any cross-referenced restrictions.
  4. If the wording does not clearly cover your item, ask your booking provider before purchasing a label.
  5. Save the answer and relevant terms with the order record.

For example, start with the word “perfume” when checking a perfume gift. Looking only at bottle size misses the named product restriction. For a gift set, check every component rather than describing the whole box simply as “gifts”.

A useful seller record

Keep the product description, destination, carrier service, restriction check and protection decision together. If a customer changes the contents or you add an extra item, repeat the check before dispatch. This is an editorial workflow suggestion, rather than an Evri approval process.
